Excellent Product, September 2, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Marumi 72mm 72 Super DHG MC CPL PL.D Slim Thin Filter Japan (Electronics) It didn't take me long to figure out the quality of this CPL. Previously I've mostly used HOYA and Tiffen which I still have on smaller lenses, I got the Marumi DHG Super CPL (72mm) for my Minolta 200mm APO G. It works, and works well, into the sun (noticed minimal flare) and away from it.
The filter is thin without being too thin, and the metal has a textured finish, likely to prevent any reflection through it. Modulating the ring is firm but purposeful.

I decided to go with it because it is almost half the price than the B+W Kasseman (which is what I was originally planning to buy)...the polarizer performance is on par with B+W (based on the review) and it is very thin but still have the threads in front to use the cover (no need to keep taking it off to put on the cover).
Overall, build quality is very good...mounting on my 18-200mm lens was a little hard at the beginning where I can twist the polarizer in but it wasn't following the threads properly. I sort of stumble on the method of placing the polarizer on top of the lens first...than do counter-clockwise twist before doing the clockwise twist and it seems to go in properly much more easily.
I took some pics with and without the polarizer and I can see a big difference. This is a good choice if you want B+W performance without paying the big bucks.

When held up against a computer lcd monitor, the highest coefficient of extinction is at a level where the CPL does not completely block out the polarized screen. My Hoya CPL, Vivitar Linear PL, and polarized Ray-Ban sunglasses all can be orientated to show complete black. The difference however is small, and, the effect on your photos is probably smaller. In terms of possible degradation of image resolution, the Marumi CPL shows minimal loss in detail at the 1:1 pixel level. Its very hard to notice, and moreoever, all my CPL's perform similarly if not worse. This indicates a high quality foil and resin that Marumi uses for polarization. In terms of flare, the multi-coating on the Marumi CPL is outstanding and helps minimize internal reflections when adding the filter.
